Greetings!

To quell some questions and concerns about who is now running this site, since Dr. Carrington passed away, I’d like to share a little bit about myself, my work history, and some insight into my long relationship with her as her website administrator, project coordinator, and friend. (to save page space, I tucked some information into colored accordions)

Lynn M. JohnsonI’m Lynn M. Johnson. I was born in Massachusetts, spent my early childhood and teen years living in upstate NY, and currently live in Lexington, KY. I am a mother of three adult sons, and grandmother to one young grandson. My two youngest sons, and grandson, live nearby. Having them close truly makes my world complete.

While I do spend a great deal of my time working, I also enjoy tending to a small flock of hens and soap making. (Egg yolks are a wonderful ingredient for soap!)

  • My Experience & Education

    Online and Offline Work Experience

In the Fall of 1996, I rented a computer and delved into the Internet to find work. By early 1997, I landed my first ongoing job contract with About.com, as the Parenting Babies and Toddlers Guide. Within two years, I was granted a second contract with the company, as the Lexington, KY Guide. I held both contracts, cumulatively, for 6.5 years. The company housed a massive network of topic-specific sites, managed by Guides.

After ending my contracts with About, I juggled online freelance writing jobs and offline clerical work, until I began working for Dr. Carrington.

Over the years, my online work experience has involved:

    • Research
    • Interviewing
    • Article writing and editing
    • HTML coding
    • Graphic design, photography, and photo manipulation
    • Website development and maintenance (WordPress)
    • Project coordination
    • Customer service
    • Video creation and editing
    • Audio editing
    • Content management
    • Website traffic analysis
    • Database management (Word Press)
    • Shopping cart implementation & management
    • Forum and chat room management
    • Employee and volunteer host training
    • Search engine optimization and consultation
    • Email management and marketing
    • Social media management (only some)

I joined the workforce in 1975 and, over the years, acquired a varied array of work experience. Industries I worked in:

    • Food service and preparation (fine, family, and fast casual dining)
    • Print advertising (sales, design, coordination, and management)
    • Financial lending (loan processing, collections, and management)
    • Entertainment promotion (accounts receivables clerk)
    • Horticulture (maintenance and landscaping)
    • Flooring installation (carpet and vinyl assistant)
    • Over-the-road trucking (as a co-driver)

While I don’t hold any college degrees, I did enroll in college; twice in 15 years.  The first enrollment was at Des Moines Area Community College, Ankeny, IA, the second was at Fugazzi College, Lexington, KY.  Both times, my studies were interrupted by pregnancy, and I chose to be a stay-at-home mom. Collectively, my studies included:

    • General and developmental psychology
    • Sociology
    • Social issues
    • Human relations
    • Anthropology
    • Video and audio production
    • Business communications
    • Sales and advertising
    • English Composition I & II

Additionally, I enrolled in an online Childhood Education certification program. While I did successfully finish the course, I enrolled primarily for its educational value for me personally, not because I had intentions of working in childhood education.

How I Met Pat

In February 2007, Pat and I connected through an online job site. She had a job offer for someone to post her articles to online directories. I sent her a proposal. She responded and asked if we could talk over the phone.

When we spoke, she said she did not want me to post articles. Confused, I listened intently as she told me about her work, and she asked if I was familiar with EFT. I confessed that I had done a search and gathered a vague idea about it from her website, prior to the call.

Because of my experience, she was considering offering me work on a different project and asked if she could send me her First Steps in EFT DVD to learn more about it.

I was curious and enthusiastically agreed to try it. Within a few days, the DVD arrived. (I still have it.)

As per her instructions, I gathered pen and paper, and watched the hour-long video. During the training, I tapped on a traumatizing physical assault upon me that occurred in my home as a teenager.

The transformation I experienced through the tapping was astonishing! My SUDS level (initially a 10) lowered quickly and I just couldn’t believe it! (Note: Over the years, my SUDS level has never risen above a 3 since I did the tapping; even when my “mental movie” of the event was triggered by something I saw on TV, heard someone talk about, or when I recounted the assault to someone else.)

When I phoned Pat and told her my results and reaction, she was thrilled. She then asked if I would be interested in revamping her website and said that there could be continuing work if things worked out. I eagerly agreed, not only to work on her website, but also to be a small part of sharing EFT with the online world.

Our Continuing Work

Over the years, Pat and I spent countless hours brainstorming and working out details of new projects.  Major projects included:

  • Several different websites that I developed
  • Two Apple apps for iTunes, for which I created videos from existing content, helped devise the navigation process, created the graphics, and worked as a liaison between she and the app developers to code them
  • Two softcover books that I compiled, formatted, and implemented on the Amazon platform.

Aside from the big projects, I regularly updated the primary website, with new articles and new promotions. There was never a dull moment, nor any idleness, when it came to Pat’s endless stream of ideas, content, and tasks to be done!

Then, in late July 2014, a spiraling turn of events began unfolding when Pat decided to relieve her Office Manager/Business Bookkeeper of over 15 years from her duties. (Pat had just turned 90 years old.)

Like a whirlwind, Dr. Pat’s world began unraveling…

  • A massive embezzlement by the assistant was discovered
  • Pat’s home was pending foreclosure

There were many different details and transitions to face, but it didn’t stop her (us) from forging ahead.

For three years, she and I, with the help of her new, close friend Gil Alan, worked feverishly to ensure revenue flow for her and the business. We launched several new products, including:

I remain amazed at how much creative energy and drive Pat held through the process of producing these products. As a team, it seemed we were really making things happen.

Then, tragedy struck in Jan. 2018, when she fell and broke two ribs. But, she soon rebounded and returned to her work.

Nearing the end of 2018, her health took another downturn. She was hospitalized and went through another stay at rehab. And, once again, she recovered and returned to her work. She was full of drive and absolute certainty that she could publish one more book…

Sadly, in March 2019, after yet another hospital stay, it became evident that she needed full-time care and would have to reside in a long-term care facility. Understandably, Pat did not take kindly to this transition. It was a very sad time, indeed.

After Pat had settled down, she and I discussed the future of her website and work. I expressed how deeply I believed her collective work should remain available to continue helping more people. It had helped so many people over many years; it would be a shame for it to disappear.

As the massive outpouring of love and support for Pat was expressed in hundreds of comments on the Go Fund Me account, that Gil had created for her, and in the many letters and cards she received, I believe Pat finally began to realize how many people’s lives she had profoundly touched and the true value her service.

After discussions with her, and Gil Alan (He was her Power of Attorney), she chose to turn her content over to me, while retaining all copyrights to it and any derivative works that I might make from it. She expressed to me that she trusted me with it, wholeheartedly, and was confident I could keep it going, while hoping I would earn a fair income for my work.

The agreement was finalized at the end of May, 2019. As of the posting of this page I have created several products.

In addition to new products, I’ve continued maintaining the site and promoted programs by affiliates that Pat worked with in the past.

Pat Departs…

Rather than repeat all of the details here, you can learn more at the Remembrance Page, if you haven’t already seen it.

I deeply miss Pat and often find myself sadly imagining how very different the last decade of her life could have been for her, if not for the embezzlement…

I remember a day during the embezzlement investigation. I was very concerned about her, even though she seemed so calm. I asked how she was feeling about it. She took pause and said, “You know, Lynn, I feel like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders.” She went on to explain that for so long, she had worked so very hard, yet kept thinking that her work wasn’t good enough, because few people were buying her products.

Without her saying as much, it was evident to me that she had been thinking in that way because her assistant was giving her false sales reports, while stealing the money! When the crime had been revealed, I think Pat suddenly realized, when she saw how much money had been stolen, that her work actually had more value than she ever imagined. (As I write this, tears flow…)

More Heartache and a Long Needed Break

In the early morning hours of Nov. 18, just eight days after Pat’s memorial service, my dear little Chihuahua, Precious, died. More great sadness and more tears shed. She was about 13 years old and my companion for nearly 10 years; my home suddenly felt very quiet and empty…

My heart became so full of nearly unbearable grief that I could barely function.

Not long after Precious passed, I decided to take up an offer from one of my sons to go on a road trip (he covered most all expenses). It was a much needed break from working; the first I’ve taken in well over a decade.

Moving Forward

Since my return, I’ve continued curating Pat’s content and am taking baby steps on a backlog of website updates. Plans are coming together on a number of projects, some of which Pat and I had enthusiastically discussed after the embezzlement occurred. However, discussing the details then was about all we could do. Knowing the considerable time involved, it was simply infeasible from any perspective; energetically, creatively, or financially,  for us to work on them. Now, however, my energy and creativity is high and I’m rolling forward.

One wonderful aspect of my curating work involves listening to and editing Pat’s teleseminars (published and unpublished). Hearing her voice is such a blessing; I almost feel her presence as I work…

Filled with Gratitude

I extend my deepest thanks to Gil Alan for everything he did for Pat, and for me. Frankly, I just can’t imagine how everything would have worked out as well as it did without him.

Another great pillar of love and support for Pat was her dear friend Terry Lynch. She worked with Gil to get Pat moved into her new home, was there during Pat’s visits to the hospital, visited her regularly, kept her moving, smiling, and thinking positive thoughts through it all. I know that Pat loves her dearly and held much gratitude for having Terry by her side in her final days.

After Pat’s passing, Terry then organized her memorial service and did a fabulous job putting it all together.  Through all that, Terry was also a strong pillar of support for me. I was a grief-stricken mess! She stayed available and always knew what to say to lift me up and keep me strong. I am so very grateful for her steadfast kindness and love.

I also received many kind email messages expressing blessings, best wishes, and gratitude for keeping her work alive. Words cannot express how much that means to me.

In closing, I hope what I’ve shared here, while a bit long-winded :), helps quell any questions or concerns you might have about me, this website, or Pat’s work.

PS: Recently, Gil Alan sent a message to share with you…

  • A Message from Gil Alan

    Hello

This is Gil Alan – a friend and colleague or Dr. Patricia Carrington. Some of you may already be familiar with me, as Pat and I had collaborated professionally on several occasions over the past 5 years. I was Pat’s Power Of Attorney while she was alive. I set up the Go Fund Me account for Pat in her time of need and I was also assigned by Pat to be the executor of her Estate.

Long before Pat crossed over leaving us all in search of new adventures, we discussed what to do with her website when she would no longer be here to serve in person. Pat spent decades of dedicated work creating all the amazing content she has produced, which has helped thousands of people, worldwide, over the years.

Pat wanted her work to live on as long as possible, not only as her legacy, but in order to continue serving. It was very clear to both of us that there was only one person capable to care for Pat’s website and content with the dedication and respect it deserves.

Together, we chose Lynn Johnson, who had been working with Pat for over 12 years as a co-producer of content and website manager. Lynn’s dedication to Pat, in so many ways over the years, has been unparalleled. The website could not be in better hands, I assure you.

Lynn will not only be maintaining Pat’s website but also creating some derivative and updated material from Pat’s original materials, as well as keeping in touch with subscribers with new articles and updating previous articles that will continue to enrich your experience of Pat’s work.

The proceeds from the website will go towards all the business expenses of maintaining the website and to compensate Lynn for her dedicated service in keeping Pat’s work alive.

I hope that you will continue to find Dr. Patricia’s Carrington wealth of articles and products inspiring and helpful, as Lynn continues working to uphold her vision of innovation and service to the world.

I think that Pat was a true genius in her field. Her consistent dedication to innovation and creativity in finding new ways to serve us all is to be commended and honored.

If you have any questions – please feel free to contact me directly at gil@gilalan.com.

I sincerely thank you for your time and attention – and all the years of respect for Pat and her work. I miss her more than I can express and have been struggling with the loss.

With great love and admiration for Pat –

I wish you all the best.

    Gil Alan
