Neural changes after Emotional Freedom Techniques treatment for chronic pain sufferers
Stapleton P.B.  Baumann O.  O’Keefe T. Bhuta S., School of Psychology, Bond University, Gold Coast, Queensland, 4229, Australia, Griffith University, School of Medicine & Menzies Health Institute, Dept. of Medical Imaging, Gold Coast University Hospital, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, 4215, Aug. 4, 2022

This study supports previous findings that EFT may have the ability to significantly reduce pain symptomology and associated psychological indicators. The neuroimaging results add to this literature suggesting EFT also potentially affects connectivity between the medial prefrontal cortex, bilateral grey matter areas in the posterior cingulate cortex and thalamus in CP sufferers.

This multicenter study provides evidence for the application of Emotional Freedom Technique for sr-CRCI (self-reported cancer-related cognitive t) cancer survivors and suggests that EFT may be useful for other symptoms in cancer survivors.

Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Improves Multiple Physiological Markers of Health.
Donna Bach, ND, Gary Groesbeck, BCIA, Peta Stapleton, PhD, Rebecca Sims, MCP, Katharina Blickheuser, PhD, and Dawson Church, PhD, Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine, 2019

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a novel therapy that combines both cognitive and somatic elements. Itis an evidence-based self-help therapeutic method and over 100 studies demonstrate its efficacy. However, information about the physiological effects of EFT is limited. The current study sought to elucidate EFTs mechanisms of action across the central nervous system (CNS) by measuring heart rate variability (HRV) and heart coherence (HC); the circulatory system using resting heart rate (RHR) and blood pressure (BP); the endocrine system using cortisol, and the immune system using salivary immunoglobulin A (SigA). The second aim was to measure psychological symptoms.

This study indicates that EFT results in positive health effects as well as increased mental well-being.
