As the official source for mastering the EFT Choices Method, the EFT Choices Manual & New Companion Guide is essential for energy psychology practitioners. While the Choices method is based on a simple principle, it can transform Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) from being just a healing method to a profound means of personal development.
Specifically, the Choices Method is a system for introducing positive choices into EFT Tapping, making it even more powerful. Dr. Patricia Carrington developed it for use with her clients in psychotherapy. However, she soon recognized the benefits it held for her EFT practitioner peers and presented it widely through seminars with EFT Founder Gary Craig in the early 2000s. In 2001, she published the How to Create Positive Choices in Energy Psychology: Choices Training Manual, which she later entitled, The EFT Choices Manual. She then, promoted it online and used it in local support groups (especially in the aftermath of 9/11/2001).
Being widely acclaimed, the EFT Choices Method manual teaches you how to introduce POSITIVE thoughts, ideas, and concepts into EFT Tapping. As part of its specific instruction, it details ways of using Choices to link to new, positive responses to memories that were previously distressing. By doing so, a host of new possibilities opens up for your clients and your healing work.
As an extension of Dr. Carrington’s EFT Choices Manual, this new Guide serves as a helpful reference while using the EFT Choices Method. Within this Companion Guide, you’ll find a collection of carefully curated articles. Written during and after the creation of the EFT Choices manual, the specially chosen content in the Guide extracts Dr. Carrington’s most insightful nuggets of knowledge.
What the Choices Manual Teaches
Essentially, the transformation from basic EFT to this breakthrough technique begins with words. While using Choices, a person applying it identifies the positive outcome they honestly desire for the problem at hand. Commencing with the words “I choose…” their desired outcome, or Choice, is inserted into the positive statement used during the tapping sequence. The Set-Up phrase initiates a strong “link,” or “conditioned response,” between the negative perceptions (the “Even though….” phrase) and one’s positive thinking (the “I choose….” phrase). As the EFT tapping enables suggestibility, the two connect in the mind on a deep level. Therefore, the choosing of words is a vital component of perfecting the practice of the Choices Method.
In addition to a wealth of strategies for devising and using “Choices” in practice, the Choice Manual includes:
- How and why the Choices Method was developed and reasons for its transformative power
- Examples of formulating “Choices” for healing.
- Instruction on wording Choices to for high effectiveness
- Utilizing Personal Resource States to elevate Choices for exceptional therapeutic value.
- Special Choices for pain, anger, relationship conflicts, abuse, dealing with tragedy, and other negative situations.
- Ways to use Choices to enhance performance precision; such as in sports, business, public speaking, and more.
- Tips for documenting the use of and progress with EFT Choices.
- How to implement Choice Cards for client homework; a strong positive reinforcer.
- Several clinical case studies that exemplify its unusually immense value.
What Others Say about EFT Choices and the Manual
“Please accept my enthusiastic congratulations on the Choices Manual. It is an invaluable contribution. What struck me in particular is that, in developing a direct link between the perception of a problem and the search for the best possible response (the “choice”), you are teaching a secular version of an idea as old as spirituality itself: that we have options concerning how we will respond to life’s challenges and that our power over our own existence is greater than we usually recognize.” Nathaniel Branden Ph.D., (Renowned) Psychotherapist and Writer, March, 2002 |
“The Choices manual is invaluable for anyone interested in expanding their use of EFT.” Gary Craig – Founder of EFT |
“I want to thank you for the Choices Method…I have used your language lead for nearly 20 years now and especially using it in my protocol for mental and emotional self-management training with athletes as I, for the past decade, have had much fun moving EFT into the sport performance world…” Greg Warburton in Oregon. |
“What an incredible combination — EFT and “Choices”! I just cannot imagine seeing such frequent rapid results with so many people (and myself) if I hadn’t been able to offer POSITIVE CHOICES at every session and workshop. Never ONCE has anyone wanted to forego using a positive Choice in their work with me.” Marlies Lersch, Personal Performance Coach |
“Thank you so much for your wonderful Choices manual. As soon as I started reading it I found I couldn’t put it down!” Mair Llewellyn Edwards EFT Therapist |
